While it may seem counterintuitive to put and oil on already oily, acne prone skin, you may be surprised to know that Argan Oil is one of the main remedies that the Women of Morocco use for Acne.
Acne is sometimes the result of oily skin, but our skin is often oily because we dry it out with harsh facial cleansers, and it reacts by producing even more oil to counteract the dryness. Argan oil mimics the composition of the oils naturally found on our face and hydrates without greasy residue, essentially telling our skin there is no need to produce additional oil and thus preventing breakouts.

Skin and Beauty Care are important parts of our self-care and self-love rituals. These rituals are especially important while you are in the “baby making” or “baby baking “stages…That is Fertility and Pregnancy. Fertility Enhancement and Pregnancy may also create hormone changes that affect the skin both positively and negatively. It is important to take a look at the Skin Care ingredients and choose ingredients that are nourishing the Skin and Not harmful or toxic to the baby.
The Skin is the largest organ of the body and it has 3 main functions:
With the understanding of these 3 concepts, it is best to consider that anything that you are going to use on the skin and hair must be good enough to eat.
It must be organic, absorbable, non-toxic and nutritious to you body. This is always important. It is even more important during pregnancy and while prepping for pregnancy.
Fertility and Pregnancy is an opportunity to reframe the way the way you perceive and care for your body. Think of your body as the Garden that little Junior is going to be growing in. You want that Garden to be full of nutrients and organic foods. You don’t want chemicals, pesticides and toxins to be polluting the garden…especially when you are prepping for or growing a baby. Your health at the point of conception is the starting point for the baby. Therefore, everything you do to improve your wellness inside and out has an impact on the health of your new family.
Using organic oils is not only amazing for your skin, hair and beauty, but it is wonderful for nourishing the Garden with Healthy fats and Omega Oils. The Omega Oils help to balance your hormones, plump up and hydrate the skin and make the hair luxurious. They are also the most important thing to help the development of the baby’s brain, immune and nervous system.
Chia and Hemp Oils:
Provide the Omega 3 Fatty acids with nourish the cells, skin, and hair. They help reduce inflammation and they help to balance the blood sugar. They are also essential for hormone balance. For the baby they are game changers in Neurological and Immune Development.
Argan Oil, Marula and Moringa: T
These oils are very high in vitamin E and various skin and hair quenching anti-0xidants. They all have great benefits for acne and inflammation.
Coconut Oil and SHEA:
Both are high in MCT oils which are great for blood sugar balance, Heart health and brain health. Coconut oils is also high in monolaurin and that is protective against yeast and viruses.
Olive Oil: High in Omega 9 fatty acids and rich in Oleic acid which is a natural anti-microbial a great for heart health. One that is safe for pregnancy.
Pomegranate and Prickly Pear Seed Oil:
These actually help with fertility and improve the egg quality and reserve. Most of the Oils that come from Fruit Seeds have this benefit.
Other good oils to consider for skin care bases during pregnancy are: Avocado, Almond, Pomegranate, Sunflower Seed and Sesame Oils.
Castor Oil:
Castor Oil is extremely moving and detoxify. I don’t recommend it while trying to get pregnant or if pregnant as it has potential to cause Miscarriage from its strong cleansing and downward action. The only time that I recommend castor oil is during the Delivery to help induce labor. Otherwise: Avoid completely!
Petroleum and Mineral Oil bases. These Oils are byproducts of the petroleum industry. They are non-absorbable, and they are Endocrine Disruptors.
Essential Oils are concentrated and distilled extracts from the plants that give it it’s strong scent. They are wonderful natural anti-microbials and they act as the Immune system of the plant. But being all natural does not make them all safe during pregnancy nor ideal for fertility. Some of the essential oils are very high in vitamin A or they are may affect hormones. Some of the essential oils are very moving and have a downward action which has the potential to cause miscarriage and abortion.
(You can use them in carrier oils on the skin, as scents in baths, or in an aromatherapy diffuser for inhalation.)

Most vitamins and minerals in skin care are great. They may be in either fruit and/or nut/seed sources. They may also be added into products individually.
The Highly Beneficial vitamins are Vitamin D, Vitamin C and Magnesium.
Vitamin A must be strictly avoided during fertility and pregnancy times. Vitamin A and its derivatives are teratogenic (may cause birth defects) and they are in most synthetic acne formulas. So, look for Retinae, Retinoic Acid and other Vitamin A Derivatives.
Endocrine Disruptors are a big concern in skin care. They can be found in food, air, water and soil. These synthetic chemicals have estrogenic activity and may disrupt our hormones leading to many hormonal imbalance and diseases. To Travel to Morocco is to Discover the Richness and Rituals of an Exotic Culture that takes pride in its unique Ancient Traditions. One outstanding quality of the Moroccan people is their generosity and openness to sharing their Culture with you. If you want to discover the Beauty Customs and Secrets of the Moroccan Women, The Moroccan Hammam is the place go!
The Hamman is a Public Bath House for the Community. Hammam Culture is perhaps strongest and most popular in Turkey and Morocco. However, the Culture of Hammam is prevalent throughout the Middle East, Mediterranean and North Africa. While Spas and Public Baths are also part of cultures in Asia and other parts of the world, there are rituals that make the Hamman Culture unique. Most tourists visiting Morocco will experience the Hammam in a Hotel or Riad as an individual Spa treatment. However, the traditional Hammam is a center of bustling activity found in every Moroccan neighborhood. It is a gathering place where Beauty, Health, and Culture meet.
The Hammam originated to serve the necessity of Cleansing and Bathing. In ancient times and even today, it is not uncommon to find a large family of 8-10 people living together in small quarters…all with one bathroom to share. The neighborhood Hammam is where most Moroccans go to bathe. Hammam visits are a weekly ritual for a Deep Cleansing of the Body and Soul. Special Hammam visits are made in preparation for prayer, weddings, parties, and other events. And like most other activities, the Hammam is an opportunity for Moroccans to socialize. There is a Hammam for the Men and one for the Women. However, in the Hammam itself you will find Women and Men of all ages and Social Classes Bathing together, socializing, and connecting.
The word Hammam comes from the Arabic translation meaning “House of Vapor, House of Warmth, House of Steam.” Truly the Hammam is a place where the social aspect also spreads Warmth and nourishes the Soul and Spirit. Therefore, you can see that in Morocco, the Hammam is a place to go for Cleansing the Body, Replenishing the Spirit, and Nourishing the Soul.
Entering the Hammam, you are greeted by a Local Attendant. The women working there are usually local neighborhood ladies and are eager to get your supplies together while engaging in friendly talking and gossip. The Attendant gives you your Hammam Bucket, Kessa (exfoliating) Glove, Black Soap, Towel and Hammam Shoes.
From Here you undress down to your underwear or bathing suit bottoms. The Hammam Attendant then guides you into the Dry Room where you sit in the warmth of the Room to start relaxing and getting accustomed to the heat.
Next you enter the Steam Area where you go to let the Steam moisten and warm your skin. Steam allows you to sweat and begin detoxifying through deep sweating. It also prepares your skin by softening it and opening the pores.
The Bathing Area, the Main area of the Hammam, is next and it is where the cleansing activities and rituals take place. There are stations of Faucets with warm water. You will sit here and begin filling your bucket with water and pouring it over your body and head. Moroccan women will often help one another by pouring water over each other’s heads and bodies. It is not uncommon for perfect strangers to do this to each other. There may be some cleansing soap here for the first step of preparing the skin for the scrub.
After your body drenched with water, the Black Soap Ritual begins. Black Soap is a gelatinous paste made of Olive Oil, Olive Paste and Essential Oils. Your Hammam partner will then help you to rub the Black Soap all over your body and let it penetrate for several minutes or more. The Black Soap softens and nourishes the skin and prepares it for the scrub. Black Soap purifies the skin of toxins and adds nutrients and moisture to the surface of the skin.
Exfoliation with the Black Soap is done by your Hammam partner, which is usually a family member or a “Scrubber Lady”. Every Hammam has a “Scrubber Lady”, a woman assigned to exfoliate the dead skin from your body after the Black Soap preparation. These women have extraordinary strength and are often a bit militant in there kraft. “The Scrubber” throws you to the tiles and begins rigorously scrubbing your dead skin off with a special exfoliating mitt known as a Kessa Mitt. She takes pleasure in scrubbing every bit of dead skin from your body and showing you the dead skin as they go. She turns your over to get the front and will not miss an inch of your body. It is not uncommon for the other ladies in the Hammam to watch and laugh as the “Scrubber Lady “exfoliates you. By the time the “Scrubber Lady” is done, you will have a fresh layer of skin glowing from the Olive Oil. The exfoliation not only removes dead skin, but it also increases circulation of blood and oxygen to the skin cells and tissues. It also helps to encourage Lymphatic drainage therefore improving immunity.
A “Ghassoul” Clay Mask follows the Black Soap ritual. There are different Ghassoul and Herbal masks for the Body, Face, and Hair. Moroccan women customize their masks by purchasing the dried herbs and clays from the local Souk, or market. Ghassoul is a fine powder that becomes Clay when mixed with water. Traditional Ghassoul comes from the Volcanic ash in the Atlas Mountains. It is rich in minerals and functions to draw impurities from your skin. It also replenishes your skin and hair with minerals and nutrients that make it soft, silky, and youthful. Different herbs and essential oils added to the Clay Mask give the Mask added benefits for health and beauty. After 15-20 minutes the Masks are rinsed thoroughly from the Body and Hair with Shampoos and Soaps.
The Final Beauty Ritual in the Hammam is the Argan Body and Scalp Massage. Argan oil is found in only one region of Morocco, however women from all over revere it for its Beauty and Health benefits. Often the Argan oil is mixed with Rosewater and Orange Blossom water. Argan Oil, known as Liquid Gold, is from the seed of the Argan Fruit of the Argan Trees which are only in Morocco. The Argan is deeply hydrating and nourishing. It penetrates the skin and hair leaving it impossibly beautiful and glowing. The Argan Massage may be done by a Professional or a family member. The golden glow of the Argan oil on your skin and hair is the perfect Grand Finale for the Hammam Beauty Ritual.
As the Argan Oil is soaks into the skin, the ladies in the Hammam sit together sharing stories and laughing. In some Hammams the women will play drums (the plastic water buckets), sing and dance. This is an extraordinary experience to behold.
Truly the Hammam Cleanses the Body, Revives the Spirit, and Nourishes the Soul.
The Moroccan Hammam Ritual is an Ancient Tradition remains a cornerstone for Moroccan Beauty and Social Culture. Experience this wonderful Ritual and you will glow with Beauty and Radiance from the Inside Out!
You don’t have to go to Morocco to experience the Beauty Ritual of the Hammam. Moroccan Elixir brings the Hammam to the comfort of your home. We recommend that you do this weekly for the best benefits for Health and Beauty.

OUR NEWEST PRODUCT! CHECK IT OUT
The Prickly Pear Cactus, native to Mexico, is now found in many semi-arid parts of the world. Our Prickly Pear Seed Cactus Oil comes from Morocco, as do the rest of our MOROCCAN ELIXIR PRODUCTS.
Known as the “Miracle Plant”, the Prickly Pear Cactus is able to survive with very little water and still produce healthy fruit. Grown in open fields without exposure to fertilizers or pesticides, The Prickly Pear Cactus contains small black seeds, from which the oil is extracted.
The oil has been used by generations of Berber women to fight the effects of dry desert conditions.
Prickly Pear Cactus Seed Oil is the newest beauty elixir from Morocco.
Morccan Elixir Prickly Pear Oil is harvested from wild and cultivated Cactus grown in the southern regions of Morocco. Our Cactus oil is processed by women’s Co-operatives using traditional methods of Cold Pressed Extraction. This method is very labor and time intensive, but it is necessary to preserve the nutrients in the oils which provide its beauty and health
Unfortunately, chemically-extracted Prickly Pear Seed Cactus Oil is available in the marketplace, involving solvent like hexane, which can cause adverse health effects and is hazardous to the water. In this process, extreme heat is used to evaporate the hexane, removing many valuable ingredients of the Prickly Pear Cactus Oil, such as natural antioxidants and vitamins. Other synthetic ingredients further degrade the quality of other commercial oils.
We produce fresh, cold-pressed prickly pear seed oil by treating the prickly pear seeds carefully,
NEVER USING CHEMICALS OR SYNTHETIC ADDITIVES, AND STICKING ONLY WITH WHAT IS 100% NATURAL AND EFFECTIVE.
Prickly Pear Seed Cactus Oil has one of the highest amounts of essential fatty acids found in any natural beauty oil.
Prickly Pear Seed Cactus Oil contains more than 88 percent unsaturated fatty acids, important for many different metabolic processes of the human body, which is not able to produce this acid itself.
Prickly Pear Cactus Oil also contains Tocopherols, making it a very effective natural antioxidant, and a warrior against free radicals, which promote the aging process: exposure to smoking, environmental poisons, ultraviolet rays, alcohol, drugs, ionizing radiation from our TVs and cell phones, stress and physical strain!
Moroccan Elixir is proud to produce the highest quality beauty products that are free from chemicals, synthetic ingredients and artificial oils. These Pure and Natural Products are helping to promote culture, environmental sustainability, and Women’s Independence in Morocco and other parts of the world.
This is a project of love, hope, independence, beauty, and culture.
We hope that you will enjoy and spread the love!

More importantly, the camels there are not treated as livestock but are positively pampered and treated as revered creatures. The UAE is the natural desert habitat of the camel, it means they can freely roam outside all year round.
While cows mature early and start giving milk from the age of two, it takes six years for camels to milk yielding maturity. “He who does not travel does not know the value of men.” —Moorish proverb
When I arrive in a new country, the first two things on my cultural agenda are Music and Medicine. I am fascinated with the local healers, medicine, and remedies of all traditional cultures.
“To awaken quite alone in a strange town
is one of the pleasantest sensations in the world.” —Freya Stark
The front desk person at my Riad explained to me in both French and Arabic where the local Berber Pharmacy was. It seemed clear enough at the time so I adventured off through the winding alleys and souks (markets) of the Medina, or old city.
The colors, smells and sounds of Marrakesh were a wonderful assault to all of my senses. The 20-minute adventure took almost 6 hours. I was distracted by vendors and Berber Carpet sellers that were seducing me into their shops with cups of Mint tea followed by heavy pressure sales tactics. I quickly had a reputation for bargaining like a Berber, which I have learned on my many trips abroad to countries where negotiating is part of the social fabric and custom. It is a delightful way to have fun with the locals. By the time I made it to the Berber Pharmacy I had 3 pairs of pointy Berber slippers and a Gorgeous Berber carpet.
“When preparing to travel, lay out all your clothes and all your money.
Then take half the clothes and twice the money.” —Susan Heller
The Berber Pharmacist invited me in and I introduced myself as une Docteur du Medicine Naturelle. I was quickly taken into the back room and seated with some Mint Tea. The pharmacy assistants brought out the samples of wonderful herbs, spices, and beauty remedies of the Berber people. There were elixirs and potions for all sorts of ailments…including some Berber Viagra!!! After 6 hours of Berber harassment in the souks I felt that Berber Viagra was the last thing these people needed. The beauty creams were laced with Rose Oil and Orange Blossoms. The friendly assistants were massaging me with so many oils that I smelled like a flower garden. I was in heaven and learning so much about the Traditional Berber Medicines. The Pharmacist himself presented Argan Oil to me. Argan oil is also known as liquid gold. It has a lovely golden amber color and I quickly learned how expensive and rare it is. Argan Oil is a Moroccan Elixir for beauty, health and longevity. It has been used for centuries by the local people in both Culinary and Cosmetic forms. The Berbers use it as a food to benefit rheumatism, high cholesterol, diabetes and more. In its cosmetic form, it is a beauty elixir known to reduce aging and enhance skin and hair regeneration. This is when my addiction to Argan Oil began. I bought Argan Oil in every form and combination imaginable and used it for the next year.
I met my husband, Ahmed, on my second trip to Morocco at a music festival in Essaouira. Essaouira is an enchanting city on the Atlantic Ocean. Wind surfers, kites surfers, and Berbers wandering along the coast on Camels greet the wonderful sandy beaches and sea. It is truly a magical place on earth.
“Wandering re-establishes the original harmony which once existed
between man and the universe” —Anatole France
This white city is known for its laid back atmosphere, its musical heritage of Gnawa music, and it’s Argan Oil Co-Operatives. Ahmed had a connection to the ladies at the Marjana Argan Co-Operative, so we spent a day trip travelling there to learn about the Argan Oil production and the Co-Operatives operations. It was in this trip that I learned about the arduous and time-consuming process that takes the nut from an Argan Tree and transforms it into this liquid gold. It takes 20 hours of manual labor to extract one liter of Argan Oil. Various Fair Trade Co-Operatives in the south west of Morocco perform the methods of producing Argan Oil in the Traditional way. The Co-Operatives of Women are the country’s opportunity to help the poorer and disenfranchised women with good paying jobs, health care, childcare, and homes.
I hope that you will enjoy and experience the wonders of Moroccan Elixir and Argan Oil. Ahmed has begun to import the Argan Oil from the Marjana Co-Operative. We have formulated Moroccan Elixir with pure Argan oil and organic essential oils.
The Wonders of Argan Oil speak for itself. I am so excited to share with you this exotic health elixir from my travels!
“Though we travel the world over to find the beautiful,
we must carry it with us or we find it not.” —Ralph Waldo Emerson
I hope you enjoy it as much as I do. We are happy to share these wonderful products with you.

While it may seem counterintuitive to put and oil on already oily, acne prone skin, you may be surprised to know that Argan Oil is one of the main remedies that the Women of Morocco use for Acne.
Acne is sometimes the result of oily skin, but our skin is often oily because we dry it out with harsh facial cleansers and it reacts by producing even more oil to counteract the dryness. Argan oil mimics the composition of the oils naturally found on our face and hydrates without greasy residue, essentially telling our skin there is no need to produce additional oil and thus preventing breakouts.
Due to the presence of antioxidants, argan oil can treat existing acne by reducing inflammation and healing damaged skin cells, possibly even fading post-acne marks and hyperpigmentation by increasing cell turnover
One of the amazing things about using argan oil to treat acne is that it’s not just an acne treatment, it works wonders for the skin too! Argan oil works to regulate and balance the skin’s hydrolipidic film, which “a protective film that covers the entire surface of the skin. It is composed mainly of sweat, sebum and water and its main function is to defend the skin against bacteria, acting as an external protective barrier. It also helps the skin to maintain its suppleness and moisture. Restoring proper balance to this hydrolipidic film helps to regulate your sebum (oil) production while also rejuvenating the skin.
Acne is caused when tiny holes in the skin, known as hair follicles, become blocked.
Sebaceous glands are tiny glands found near the surface of your skin. The glands are attached to hair follicles, which are small holes in your skin that an individual hair grows out of. Sebaceous glands lubricate the hair and the skin to stop it drying out. They do this by producing an oily substance called sebum.
In acne, the glands begin to produce too much sebum. The excess sebum mixes with dead skin cells and both substances form a plug in the follicle. If the plugged follicle is close to the surface of the skin, it bulges outwards, creating a whitehead. Alternatively, the plugged follicle can be open to the skin, creating a blackhead. Bacteria that live on the skin can then contaminate and infect the plugged follicles, causing papules, pustules, nodules or cysts.
Other health and lifestyle factors can contribute to Acne and Acne prone Skin. These include: Hormone Imbalances, Diet and Food Allergies, Genetics, Stress, Toxins, and Harsh Skin Care products
Apply several drops of Argan Oil to your face in the morning and in the evening.
AGELESS Renewing Face Oil combines the wonderful anti-acne benefits of Argan Oil with Essential oils of Rose and Sandalwood. Sandalwood essential oil boasts potent anti-inflammatory, antibacterial and antioxidant properties that may benefit those prone to cystic acne breakouts. Its oil composition allows it to penetrate deep into the skin, making it successful at preventing the formation of surface-level acne pustules or papules. Rose oil helps balance moisture levels in skin, reduce the appearance of skin imperfections, and promote a healthy-looking and even skin tone.
Here are a few reasons why rose water is considered to be one of the best remedies for acne. The excessive use of cosmetic products such as facial cleansers or soaps can disturb your skin’s pH balance. This condition can further contribute to the growth of bacteria which can result in acne breakouts. Rose Water can balance out this disturbance by maintaining your skin’s pH levels. Rose water is a natural toner that cleanses your pores, removes excess oil, and reduces the size of acne. It helps in killing off acne-causing bacteria while preventing future breakouts. Moreover, it is also effective in healing acne scars. Rose water comprises of anti-inflammatory and cooling properties which can help soothe the irritation and aggravation caused by acne breakouts.

The popular use of Argan oil has been for its health properties but its use in cosmetics and hair products is also becoming common. The oil is an ancient beauty secret that has numerous uses, helping to hydrate and soften the hair. Natural Black Hair is Unique and Beautiful, yet it can take some extra care and attention to Maintain its Health. Natural Black Hair is Curly, Dense, Wiry, Porous and Absorbent. All these factors make it extra important to use the best quality Oils and Products. The Hair will absorb what you put on it. Argan Oil is perhaps the Healthiest well-rounded oil in the Hair Beauty Industry now. Let’s look at why the rage in beauty and hair why it is the Best Natural Product for Natural Black Hair.
Argan oil is a very ‘rare’ and precious hair commodity which is why it is often referred to as Morocco’s Liquid Gold. It is extracted from the kernel of the Argan tree that is scientifically known as Argania spinose. The oil is often referred to as the ‘Moroccan oil’ because it is mainly found in Sous Valley in south-western Morocco. The oil is extremely rare because of its limited, specific growing areas and extremely low yield per tree. The Argan Tree is extremely well adjusted to drought and environmentally harsh conditions and bears a fruit that contains the oil rich nuts. These nuts are the ones gathered by locals to extract the Argan Oil from the kernels
Argan oil contains vitamin E, minerals, antioxidants, ferulic acid, carotenoids, phytosterols, polyphenols and 80% unsaturated fatty acids (Oleic acid, Alpha-linolenic acid, palmitic acid, Stearidonic acid, Linoleic acid and Myristic acid).
Depending on how the oil is extracted, the oil has been found to me more resistant to oxidation compared to Olive oil. Both vitamin E and linoleic acid makes the oil rich in antioxidants, therefore important for protecting cell from damage early signs of aging, via its action as an anti-free radical agent.
Argan oil is one the best oils for Natural Curly hair because of its intense moisturizing properties. The oil forms a non-evaporating layer around the hair thus sealing in moisture. The protective layer will lock in the moisture until it is washed out, this makes the oil one of the most powerful and long-lasting moisturizers.
Argan oil has small molecules that easily penetrate deep into the cortex of the hair and thus effectively moisturizes from the inside of the hair shaft. The oil is packed with antioxidants and vitamins that the hair easily absorbs.
Argan oil hydrates the Curls hair in a natural way, making hair softer and reducing roughness.
Argan oil penetrates the hair shaft and enhances the elasticity of hair which helps prevent breakage - essential for Natural Hair.
Argan oil has been proven to be very nourishing to the scalp, enhancing hair growth.
Argan oil is excellent for uncontrollable and unmanageable Curls. It restores the smoothness of Curls making it more manageable.
Argan oil Moisturizes Dry Curls and nourishes the Curls with minerals and Fatty Acids. This makes Natural Hair Soft and Healthy.
Argan makes a great Deep Conditioner for Natural Hair because the antioxidants present in Argan oil strengthen the hair by repairing damage. The Vitamin E in Argan oil makes it a tremendous agent for Curly hair treatment. Many external and internal agents like heat, over styling and oxidization damage Natural Hair. Vitamin E present in Argan oil is very useful in restoring the Curls hair and renewing and repairing the damage caused by heat, chemicals, or other destructive agents.
Argan Oil helps to protect Natural Hair from Damage due to Sun, Color, Blow Drying, Curling Irons, and Styling Products. These influences can slowly cause the hair to get brittle and damaged. Argan is a gentle protection for Protecting Curls from the Elements.
Argan Shampoo: Argan makes a great moisturizing Shampoo that can not only cleanse but hydrate and moisturize your Natural Hair and Curls.
Argan Conditioner: It is rich in Vitamin E, essential fatty acids, and antioxidants, which helps to nourish and detangle the Curls. Argan oil is quite rich in nutrients and vitamins such as vitamins A, C, and E which as you already know contain antioxidant properties to top it up the oil also contains linoleic acid and omega-6 fatty acids, which are essential for a good conditioner. This combination will super-nourish your hair leaving the Curls and Natural Hair strands softer, shinier, and easy to manage.
Heat Protector: Always look for Argan oil as an ingredient in heat protection for Natural Hair products because it nourishes and conditions the hair, providing great slip that makes styling easier when using hot tools.
Hair Mask: Argan oil is amazing in hair masks, especially if you have damaged, or colored Natural Hair. The vitamin E in the oil smoothens frayed hair shafts and seals split ends and the omega fatty acids work to your hair strong, so leaving on for about thirty minutes as a mask and you will see the changes it will bring to your hair and the benefits.
Sun Protection: Argan oil has been used by Moroccan women for centuries to protect hair and skin. The antioxidant activity in Argan oil protected hair and skin against free radical damage from the sun helping to prevent drying and other damage from ultraviolet rays.

Curly Hair must be treated and styled differently than another Hair. This is because Curly hair is more Porous and Sensitive that Straight Hair. If cared for properly, Curly Hair will be your favorite Feature and easy to live with and manage. If not cared for properly, Curly Hair can cause easily become dry, damaged, and unruly. To Begin, check out our article Curly Hair Guide 101: Shampoo + Condition. Once you have mastered the simple tips for Cleansing and Conditioning your Curls, you can move on to Styling and Managing the Curls so that they reflect a soft, defined, smooth and healthy bounce. Curly Hair is a Unique beauty feature. We want you to Love it as much as we do!
There are many different types of curl-defining styling products and hair finishers, including serums, gels, sprays, and mousses. Find the product or mixture of products that work best for your hair by first identifying your curly hair type.
A water based mousse may work best on wavy to curly hair texture, whereas a thicker gel or styling cream will provide better definition and hold for thicker, tighter, kinkier coils. For extra protection against frizz, prime your curls with a powerful serum for frizz while your hair is still soaking wet. Then, scrunch your mousse or gel into wet or damp hair, working from the ends up encouraging curls to form
After stepping out of the shower, take a microfiber towel or soft cotton t-shirt, and gently squeeze your hair to remove excess moisture. Don’t rub or use a regular towel, as the friction can damage your delicate strands and lead to frizz. If you need to detangle any snarls, spritz on some leaves in conditioner first and use a wide-toothed comb or better yet, your fingers. The wider the comb or fingers, the more separated the curls will look.
Dry your curls carefully. With any texture, wet hair is super fragile. It’s important to dry curly hair with a fabric that won’t cause too much friction. Not only does friction make curls look frizzy because it’s lifting the cuticle, but the rubbing can also cause breakage. Instead of a traditional towel, which can be rough on hair, use a soft cotton T-shirt to dry curls. Or there are special Hair Drying Towels that are smooth texture and not made with Terry Cloth that are great for Keeping the Curls Defined and Smooth.
The high temperature from heat styling tools can remove the natural texture of your curls, making them dull and lifeless. Limit the use of heat drying and styling to only when necessary.
To speed up drying without adding frizz, set your hairdryer to the lowest setting, and attach a diffuser. Let your curls rest gently on the nozzle of the diffuser, and continue to scrunch, separate, and define each curl as they dry. Set your style with a humidity-fighting hair spray for perfectly defined yet touchable soft curls with plenty of Bounce.
Curls that are smooth, defined, and healthy require regular trims. When you have split ends, it not only makes your curls look unhealthy, but it’s a prerequisite for more damage down the line. Prevent breakage by getting your ends clipped every six to eight weeks.
A big part of curl care is how you protect hair while you sleep. Putting it in a protective style and ensuring that your hair doesn’t rub against rough fabrics is important. Sleeping with a bonnet or satin pillowcase is pretty much a requirement in any curly hair care routine, whether you’re working with short or long curly hair.
Haircare experts swear by the pineapple trick as part of the sleep routine for curly hair. Pile all your hair on top of your head into a bun or a loose ponytail. This way, there is less friction between your hair and the pillowcase. Switch to satin or silk pillowcases instead of cotton cases to reduce the friction.
Although Oils and Organic Styling Products can add so much hydration, moisture, and nutrients to your Curls, making them great for Health Curls…. It is a great idea to give your Hair a “Breather Day.” One day a week in which you do not use any styling products or oils after your shower. This allows the hair to breathe and rest and relax from constant attention. Taking a day off the products also helps the Curls to weigh less and restore some of the Bounce. If the Breather Day involves some time near the Beach, in Nature, or in the Sun, this gives the Curls extra benefits of these healing Elements.
No matter what the hair texture or type, the basic rules of hair care remain the same. Oiling your hair improves blood circulation to the scalp and promotes healthy Hair Growth.
Natural oils are a rich source of vitamin E and fatty acids. These fatty acids help to lock the moisture in your hair. That’s how natural oils control frizz and improve the manageability of curly hair. Massaging natural oils on the scalp boosts blood circulation and promotes hair growth.
COCONUT OIL is great for Thicker Curls and leaves the curls looking non greasing and hydrated. Coconut Oil is rich in Sterols and Medium Chain Fatty Acids with are very nourishing and repairing to damaged Curls. Coconut Oil is one of the best for Oil for Hair that needs a strong Styling support. Use your fingertips to massage the oil onto your scalp. You can apply coconut oil before bedtime and wash the morning after. Alternatively, you can also apply oil an hour before shampooing your hair.

What Color Does to the Hair:
Ammonia in the hair color changes the hair pH and lifts the cuticle up so that the color can enter into the cortex. Since the cuticle is the protective and hydrating layer, the ammonia makes the hair dry and sensitive to other damage such as sun, pollution, and chemicals.....
But don’t panic, it is not necessary to stop coloring your hair in order to have hair that it beautiful, healthy and luxurious.]]>Thanks to the wonderous benefits of Argan Oil, the ancient Moroccan Beauty Elixir, you no longer have to choose between healthy hair and colored hair. Argan oil is rich in nutrients and phytochemicals that can Revitalize Color Treated and Processed Hair. It is nature’s remedy for beautiful hair and skin that has been used by centuries by the women of Morocco.
The art of Hair Coloring is an ancient art found in many cultures around the world. In these times, the colors were derived from plants such as henna, black walnut, indigo, amla, turmeric, and red okra. Unfortunately, modern hair dyes and colors are chemically derived and have very potent chemicals which are toxic to our health and damaging to the hair. This is why there is such a buzz around how to revitalize color treated hair.
Let’s take a brief look at what Hair Coloring does to the hair and then learn how Argan Oil can Revitalize it.
The part of the hair that extends out of the scalp is known as the hair shaft and it is made of 3 layers: the cuticle, the cortex, and medulla.
The outermost layer of hair is the cuticle. The cuticle protects the hair from damage, and it controls the water content of the hair fibers.
The middle layer is the cortex and it gives the hair its color, strength, and texture. The medulla is another layer that is found in thick and coarse hair adding to its body.
Ammonia in the hair color changes the hair pH and lifts the cuticle up so that the color can enter into the cortex. Since the cuticle is the protective and hydrating layer, the ammonia makes the hair dry and sensitive to other damage such as sun, pollution, and chemicals.
Peroxide enters into the cortex layer of the hair breaking and stripping down the color. But since this is also the layer that gives the hair strength and texture, the peroxide literally strips the hair of all its body and flexibility. This is why color makes hair brittle and weak. It also strips the bounce and flows from the hair.
The hair color enters through the lifted cuticle and moves into the cortex and deposits on the stripped cortex. Once inside the cortex, it processes, and the color proteins enlarge.
The conditioner applied after the color helps to close the cuticle and seal the color in. The conditioner is not as toxic, however, the process of the coloring has already done its damage leaving the hair dry, brittle, weak, and lusterless.
The coloring chemicals also have a negative impact on the scalp which is where the hair root is. The root of the hair has the oil glands and papilla which provide the hair with the nutrients needed for hair growth, vitality, and health. The coloring chemicals are like toxic pesticides on the soil of a garden.

The popular use of Argan oil has been for its health properties but its use in cosmetics and hair products is also becoming common. The oil is an ancient beauty secret that has numerous uses, helping to hydrate and soften the hair.
Nutrients Founds in Argan Oil are Just what the Hair Needs!
How Does Argan Oil work with Curly Hair
Argan oil is one the best oils for Curly hair because of its intense moisturizing properties.

Cleansing Hands is so important, but most Hand Sanitizers leave your hands dry, cracked and red while smelling unpleasant. Not to mention they often have added chemicals that may be harmful to your health. Remember, the skin absorbs the things that you put on it and it goes directly into your bloodstream. Many of these ingredients are classified as Endocrine Disruptors. When Choosing products for your skin it is important to read the label and know what your product contains. What goes on your body…goes in your body!
Imagine this! An Organic Hand Sanitizer that Smells Wonderful, moisturizes your Hands, and that Works Magic to Cleanse and Protect. It sounds like an oxymoron, but it is possible to find Organic Hand Sanitizers. What do you look for when trying to find the best natural Hand Sanitizer for your health and beauty routine?
Here we go!
Organic Alcohol is the anchor ingredient in any effective organic hand sanitizer. The best form of alcohol for a natural hand sanitizer is Ethanol or Ethyl Alcohol, also labeled as Alcohol. This is the same form that is in Alcoholic Beverages. Organic Alcohol is standardized by the USDA and is sourced from either sugar cane, fruits, grapes, corn or grains. The sources will be grown with agricultural methods free of pesticides and synthetic fertilizers. Organic Alcohol is Non-GMO, which means that the seeds for the crop will not be genetically engineered or combined with genes of another plant species. Organic and Non-GMO alcohol may be from gluten containing grains; however, the distillation process leaves the alcohol gluten free. There may be possible contamination with gluten in the facility where the alcohol is processed. If you have a gluten allergy, then it is best to contact the manufacturer, so you know that your source is gluten free.
Alcohol is an effective anti-microbial agent against bacteria, viruses, and fungi. It works to denature the cell membranes of the microbes. The CDC and WHO recommend that hand sanitizers have a minimum of 60% alcohol. Alcohol dries quickly and may also break down the fatty membranes of skin cells. Therefore, your hand sanitizer should also have moisturizing ingredients to prevent drying, redness, cracking of the skin which may lead to aging and uncomfortable hands.
DEFEND Moisturizing Argan Hand Sanitizer uses 65 % Organic Alcohol
that is Non-GMO and Gluten Free.
The Best organic hand sanitizers will have ingredients that preserve moisture and hydrate the skin in order to prevent dryness, redness, irritation and aging hands. Squalene and Aloe vera are two excellent ingredients that hydrate, moisturize and repair dry hands. These are popular ingredients in skin care because they are generally safe, soothing and have a low risk for allergy. They help to keep hands soft and smooth.
Organic oils may be added to hand sanitizers to help replenish the skin’s moisture and repair the hands with fatty acids and antioxidants. Argan Oil is one of the best oils for hand sanitizers because it is rich in vitamin E and Omega Fatty acids which help to restore the integrity and moisture of the skin. Argan oil is also rich in minerals and Vitamin C that help to restore Collagen, which prevents wrinkling and premature aging of the skin. Argan Oil leave the hands soft, supple and smooth despite the high alcohol content and frequent use. Other oils that may be beneficial in Hand Sanitizers are Moringa Oil, Jojoba Oil, Avocado Oil and Sunflower Seed Oil.
Organic Essential Oils are an excellent addition to hand sanitizers. They give the hand sanitizer a wonderful fragrant Scent. The Essential Oils are the Immune System of the plants. Did you ever wonder why Herbs, Flowers and Plants don’t get eaten by the Bugs in the Environment? That is because the Oils, which make them smell so good are also the Immune system of the plants. Most Essential oils have antimicrobial benefits and are helpful against bacteria and viruses. They can be added to the Alcohol and Moisturizing base to enhance the effectiveness. Essential Oils also have active ingredients that can help to repair and moisturize the skin as well. The Essential Oils all have unique scents; therefore, you should choose a scent that you will love using and smelling since you will be using it regularly. Each Essential Oil also has properties that may affect your mood. For example: Lavender is calming, Rosemary is clarifying, Orange is uplifting, and Peppermint is invigorating. If you have an organic hand sanitizer or a natural hand sanitizer that is free of essential oils, you can add your own. Just put about 10-12 drops of essential oils in a 2 oz bottle. Then shake the mixture well before using.
A Hand Sanitizer is an essential part of our Modern Health and Beauty Routine today. But most hand sanitizers are extremely harsh and damaging to the skin, leaving the skin red, dry and cracked. An Organic Hand Sanitizer will take your Essential Protection to the next level by providing not only the confidence you desire but some added luxury and beauty benefits.

There is much speculation about how often Curly Hair Should be washed. One thing is certain, that over washing can strip the hair cuticles of moisture and oils making it dry, frizzy and increase breakage. Under washing Curly Hair is also not great because it causes the product and Oils to accumulate weighing down the hair and pulling out the curls. So, it is necessary to find a good balance for your hair with some experimentation.
Try Shampooing Curly Hair anywhere between 1 and 3 days per week. You can rinse the hair and wet it every day. Curly Hair loves water and hydration! Follow every Shampoo with Conditioner is essential for restoring the evenness and bounce to the Curls. Conditioner closes the cuticle and smooths the hair shaft. Conditioner can be used daily even on the non-Shampoo days to remove knots and add moisture to the Curls.
Curly hair is porous and doesn’t require an excess of Shampoo. Reducing the Shampoo quantity will help to preserve the hair cuticle and save you some money. Take a quarter size of Shampoo in your palms and evenly distribute it throughout the hair and scalp.
Conditioner can be used more generously with Curly Hair. It is not necessary to condition the scalp. However, applying it evenly throughout the hair shaft and thoroughly into the ends of the Hair Strands is important. Leave the Conditioner on the Hair for 2-5 minutes for Best Results and to fortify the stands with the moisture, oils, and nutrients.
Start by Generously wetting the Hair in warm to cool water. Avoid Hot water because Hot Water may be damaging to curly hair.
Massage the Shampoo into the Scalp in a circular pattern. Spend some extra time with the scalp massage to stimulate the blood and nutrients into the hair follicle. This also helps to remove the product build up and oil residues that weigh the hair down.
Gently Massage the Shampoo into the Hair Strands. Use your fingers to comb through the hair from scalp to ends. Never use a brush, comb, or pick on curly hair!
Make sure the Shampoo is thoroughly washed out of the hair and then follow with the Conditioner. Moisturize the Hair Shaft and Ends generously with the Conditioner. Allow the Conditioner to penetrate the curls for 2-5 minutes before rinsing thoroughly rinsing it out.
Curly Hair needs extra love and attention! Deep Conditioning 1-2 times per week is an excellent way to infuse the hair and scalp with extra hydration, oils, and nutrients. This helps the hair to looks healthier and more lustrous. Hair Color, Styling Products, Styling Irons, Blow Dryers, and Sun Exposure are all things that add stress to Curly Hair. If your Curly Hair has exposure to these things, then consider a Deep Hair Conditioner or Hair Mask 1-2 Times per week to help repair and renew the Curls.
Curly hair is more fragile due to its increased porosity. Lying on the bed when the hair is wet may lead to more hair tension and fracture causing increased breakage and hair loss. For this reason, Shampooing + Conditioning Curly Hair in the morning allows enough time for the hair to dry without any tension or pulling. If you are going to do some Deep Conditioning for the hair, it is best to do that in the Evenings and allow the hair to enjoy some breathing space after without any styling product.
Transforming your Curly Hair from Dry and Frizzy to Hydrated, Smooth, and Defined is SIMPLE!
It starts with choosing the Best Shampoo, Conditioner, and Hair Mask for your Curls. Then follow the steps above to get the best results with your Shampoo + Conditioning Routine. With regularity and consistency, Curls will start to look refreshed and renewed within a couple of weeks. Begin today with the Curly Hair Care 101: Shampoo + Conditioner.

Widely considered as one of the healthiest diets on the planet, the Mediterranean diet can do wonders for your general health and the health of your skin. A favorite of health professionals, its benefits are backed by a huge amount of scientific research. Studies show that following the Mediterranean way of eating lowers blood pressure, balances blood sugar, helps brain health, promotes heart health, keeps bones strong, protects the brain and memory and even extends life-expectancy. The Mediterranean Diet and Lifestyle can also help improve the quality and health of your skin…making you age with beauty and grace…like the people of that region. Mediterranean people are known for their beautiful skin and laid-back open demeanors.
There are 16 countries that border the Mediterranean. They include Italy, France, Greece, Turkey, Morocco, Lebanon, Spain and more…. There is not one specific cuisine that is the Mediterranean diet. Instead, there are certain characteristics and principles that are consistent in all the cuisines of these countries. The diets of these regions are based around plenty of plant foods, such as fruits, vegetables, nuts, pulses and wholegrains, other key components are fish, olive oil and small amounts of red wine. Limited amounts of unprocessed meat, eggs and dairy are included, and the diet is naturally low in added sugar, refined grains, and processed foods. One of the key features is the healthy sources of fats from foods like fish, nuts, seeds, avocados, olives, and olive oil. At the same time, it is low in foods containing unhealthy fats such as refined vegetable oils, processed meat, and other processed foods. Many of the foods included have anti-ageing properties, including nourishing and protecting your skin.
.
Olive oil is of course a staple part of the diet, providing healthy monounsaturated fats and believed to be one of the secrets to the superior health of the Mediterranean people. Olive oil is a rich source of a fatty acid called oleic acid, which has potent anti-inflammatory effects. Inflammation is involved in both ageing and many diseases, so reducing it has anti-ageing benefits. Extra virgin olive oil is also rich in antioxidants, which have further anti-inflammatory properties, as well as protecting against oxidative damage in the body. Choosing cold-pressed olive oil and eating some of it raw, on salads for example, will ensure the highest antioxidant dose. Olive oil consumption is linked to a range of advantages including a healthy heart and a reduced risk of depression and Alzheimer’s.
Olive oil is also a wonderful ingredient for homemade beauty products, such as hair and facemasks, shampoos and conditioners, Lotion, body oils, and soaps. It is packed with vitamin E, monounsaturated fats, and antioxidants and is extremely nourishing and moisturizing for your skin and hair. Olive oil consumed in and out will make your skin youthful and healthy when consumed regularly.
One of the main benefits you can receive from following a Mediterranean diet is reduced inflammation in the body. Internal and external inflammation can be caused by the body’s response to continuous stimulation of the immune system, something our American diet triggers often with its highly processed foods and high carbohydrate intake. The foundation of the Mediterranean diet is fresh foods, whole grains and healthy fats and proteins which will lower inflammation and can even help skin inflammatory diseases such as eczema, acne and psoriasis.
A Mediterranean diet contains a naturally low glycemic index with fresh ingredients which can help stabilize oil production in skin. I was introduced to Argan Oil as young child in Moroccan as a remedy for the skin rash of Chicken Pox. It worked wonders for healing the rash. In my family the women of house used the Argan oil as a beauty treatment for the hair, face and body. In my teen years I found it very helpful for acne. Argan oil is very much a part of the tradition and culture in Moroccan family life.
The culinary Argan oil was a vital part of our cuisine and used as dip for fresh bread or sprinkled on the couscous.
In my late teens and early 20’s I began my annual pilgrimage to the Gnawa Festival in Essaouira, a city on the Atlantic Ocean. This yearly music festival became a favorite rendezvous for my friends and I to share in our love for Gnawa music, also known as Sufi Blues. It was on these trips that I came to be friends with Khadija Teboka, as she and her family would rent out her house to us during the festival time. Khadija was the oldest member of the Marjana Argan Oil Co-Operative.

It is rich in nutrients and phytochemicals that give it the many benefits making it a valuable ally for daily Beauty rituals. Let’s explore the Purple Power of Lavender and why it is the number one ingredient for Outer Beauty and Inner Peace!
THE LAVENDER PLANT
Lavender, most found as Lavandula angustifolia (English lavender or Bulgarian lavender), is an evergreen shrub that blooms elegant purple flowers with an extraordinary scent. With over 40 species of the lavender plant and over 400 varieties, how do you know which one is suitable for you? The most common species is the Lavandula angustifolia (English Lavender) and is used in topical skincare products. There are other varieties sometimes seen in skincare, including Lavandula latifolia (spike lavender) and Lavandula stoechas (often called French or Spanish lavender), both of which are more applicable to respiratory and antimicrobial concerns. Another common species for inclusion in skincare products is Lavandula hybrida (which is a hybrid of any two varieties, but typically of Lavandula angustifolia and Lavandula latifolia).
With so many different varieties of lavender, you’ll find that there are some specific species with chemical compounds that are best used for other means than topical skincare.
